Tim Bainton* Tim Bainton is the Director of Tennis at The Mount Vernon Athletic Club (MTVAC), where he oversees all areas of the club’s tennis teaching and programming. Through his work at MTVAC he has been credited with developing one of the most promising High Performance Programs in the Mid-Atlantic. Tim is certified at the highest levels, including being a USTA High Performance Coach, a USPTA P1, USPTR Professional, and a LTA Development Coach.
Originally from London, England, Tim accepted a full athletic scholarship to attend George Mason University. This was after a very successful junior career that included matches in numerous ITF events throughout Europe, where he became both a State and National Champion. While at George Mason University, Tim was a four time CAA Scholar Athlete and former #1 singles and doubles player.
Prior to joining MTVAC, Tim was Head Teaching Professional at David Lloyd in England and was Assistant Tennis Director at Burke Racquet and Swim Club in Burke, Virginia. In addition, to managing the tennis program at MTVAC, Tim is an Etcheberry Experience Physical Trainer.
In 2009 Tim was selected to be the Intersectional Coach for the 16 and Under Mid Atlantic Team in Shreveport, LA and a Guest Instructor at the USTA Regional Training Center and National Center. Later in 2009 Tim has been invited to attend the USTA High Performance National Coaches Convention at the Junior Orange Bowl. (There are only eight coaches in the entire country).
David Perren*, David Perren is a Senior Teaching Professional with the Mount Vernon Athletic Club (MTVAC). David is LTA Certified and a MTVAC High Performance Coach.
Originally from Bristol, England, where he had a successful juniors’ career, David accepted an athletic scholarship to High Point University in North Carolina. During his entire four years at High Point University, David played Division 1 Varsity Tennis and was part of an NCAA National Ranked Program. He graduated with a B.S in Sports Management and a Masters Degree in Sports Studies. He was also the Assistant Coach for the Men’s Team while completing his Master’s Degree.
Patrick Escalambre*, Patrick Escalambre is a Senior Teaching Professional with the Mount Vernon Athletic Club (MVAC). Currently, Patrick is the USTA Tournament Director and responsible for overseeing the club’s USTA tournaments. In addition to his work at MVAC, Patrick is the Head Coach at Riverside Gardens Swim and Tennis. Patrick is certified by the USPTA and is a MTVAC High Performance Coach.
Prior to joining MVAC, Patrick spent two years as a Teaching Professional at Burke Racquet and Swim Club as well as spending time as Head Coach at Cottontail Swim and Racquet Club.
Mike Leary*- Mike is a Senior Teaching Professional with the Mount Vernon Athletic Club (MTVAC). Mike is certified by the USPTA and he is also a MTVAC High Performance Coach.
Mike has grown up playing tennis at MTVAC and has worked for MTVAC as a tennis professional throughout his later high school and college years. Mike graduated from Gettysburg College 2009, playing #1 singles and #1 doubles on the tennis team, as well as being the team captain his senior year. He was also the head coach at Riverside Gardens Swim and Tennis Club for six years.
Hank Harris*, Hank Harris is a Senior Guest Pro teaching with Mount Vernon Athletic Club (MTVAC). Hank is a former top-ranked singles and doubles player in Virginia. Hank has more than 20 years of sectional, national and international playing experience. He is former #1 player and coach for the University of Virginia. He is currently the Director of Tennis Programs at Episcopal High School.
